Thank-you for visiting the Ontario Crafts Council's Washi Lockdown & Auction blog.
Over the next several days, we will be bringing you live updates from Washi Lockdown Headquarters at the OCC Gallery (990 Queen Street West).
What is the Washi Lockdown?
On the weekend of June 7th and 8th, thirteen craftspeople in all media from across Ontario will be locked into the OCC Gallery together for two days. Pushing the boundaries of traditional craft practice, they will create a series of collaborations that incorporate washi paper. This event is a partnership between the OCC, the World Washi Summit, and The Paper Place.
The Washi Lockdown will be followed by a silent auction running June 9th, 10th & 11th. Join us on June 11th at 6:30pm for a reception celebrating the creative energies of our amazing participants. Bidding will close at 8pm EST on June 11th. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to bid on these one-of-a-kind creations. 100% of funds raised will go to supporting the Council's programming and exhibition schedule. All work created will be on display in advance of the auction at the OCC Gallery on June 9th, 10th & 11th.
Participating craftspeople include: Tanya Norman, Brad Copping, Marc Egan, Yusun Ha, Tiana Roebuck, Jess Riva Cooper, Tara Bursey, Andrew Curle, Emma Gerard, Patrick Collins, Julie Laschuk, Kathleen Doody, and Lubo Brezina.
